About Us

About Safe Space Merseyside

Safe Space Merseyside is a Trans+ led organisation, which aims to support transgender and non-binary people across the Merseyside area by running social events and providing a directory of businesses and organisations who have pledged that they are a safe space for Trans+ people.

We primarily hold our events in Liverpool city centre. We list businesses and organisations from right across the Merseyside region, including Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral. We also list businesses in Halton and Chester due to their close proximity.

We also operate a chest binder exchange - please do reach out if you can’t afford but are in need of a binder, or if you can donate one.

Safe Space Merseyside is not and never will be for profit.

What are Safe Spaces?

A safe space is a place where trans+ people:

  1. Feel welcome, just as they are.
  2. Are respected in their identity.
  3. Trust they won’t face discrimination or “debate”
  4. Know they are protected from harassment or judgement.
  5. Can access the correct services that affirm their identity; for most places, this means toilets or changing rooms.

Donations

We gratefully accept donations via the ko-fi platform - https://ko-fi.com/safespacemerseyside.

Previous donations have funded resources for pride festivals and pay local trans+ artists to create things like our window stickers and posters.
